Multiple languages (and limitations)

3D Text Suite supports many scripts, as long as you have a TTF that covers them. Right to left scripts are supported , also Bi-Directional text is supported. Here are the main supported languages:

  1. Latin script – all extended Latin script languages are fully supported except Vietnamese.
  2. Cyrillic script – tested with Russian and Ukrainian, but should work with any
  3. CJK – Chinese , Japanese and Korean are supported including input method editor (IME).
    • IME is not supported in WebGL
    • for dynamic text , you cannot bake all 40k chars so you must relay on dynamic text generation and runtime baking.
  4. Arabic – Arabic is supported including text input, bi-directional text and diacritics (Tashkeel)
    • supported using two fonts only, Noto-Naskh-Regular.ttf and Cairo-Regular.ttf – other fonts may behave unpredictably
    • Because Arabic uses connected letters, it can cause z-fighting between them. You can overcome this by designing the font style accordingly, examples are included.
  5. Hebrew – Hebrew is supported including text input and bi-directional text
    • Diacritics (Niqqud) are not supported
  6. Greek, Armenian and Georgian – fully supported
  7. Other languages – Other languages may work as well
  8. Languages that are definitely not supported – Devanagari script languages, Urdu ,Persian and Thai.
